ARQUEOLOGÍA DE LO CALLADO

This work originates from the discovery of handwritten letters found on the street, which I decided to cover with plaster. As the plaster dried, the words were imprinted onto the fragile surface, and with the slightest pressure, the material broke into pieces. Those hundreds of fragments of words reminded me of my deep relationship with language and silence, as stuttering had been a constant companion in my life for many years. The word that breaks, that fails to emerge, that gets stuck, suddenly became matter. It felt as though I was unearthing all those words I couldn't say for so many years, silenced underground, shipwrecks of speech, now attempting to re-speak them through the material. Like an archaeologist trying to reassemble the fragments of a broken vessel, I did the same with all those ruins of words. This series explores, through plaster, thread, and word, the wound of language and communication breakdown.
