This series of paintings is the result of seven months spent working at the SomoS residency in Berlin during the pandemic. With the city practically anesthetized by the total lockdown, my time there consisted of a constant dialogue between walking and painting, the inside and the outside. The walk as a drift, as an opening of the senses and a gaze towards new places, and also as the collection of material, both physical and emotional, allowed me to later distill it into the paintings during the dark afternoons and nights of a Berlin in winter and in the midst of a pandemic. These were paintings that emerged slowly, with much material exploration through painting and collage, eventually culminating in a series of twelve canvases that were exhibited at the SomoS Berlin gallery at the end of the residency and at the H20 gallery in Barcelona, as part of the contemporary art festival ArtNou.
